eye of the Storm
“Now may the God of peace – who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood— may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
My child,
I offer you my peace today. It is not the kind the world offers. My peace is not the absence of any stress, noise or conflict. That kind of peace comes and goes depending on circumstances.
My peace is the beautiful, unchangeable serenity of my presence in the midst of the storms or placid places in life. Live with me in the calm eye of the storm.
You don’t have to pretend there isn’t a hurricane all around you. But there is that still place where we can take pleasure in each other despite all the wind and rain. Take refuge with me there.
As we enjoy one another, I will equip you with everything you need to do my will. I will build into you the resources you must have to walk with me in the maelstrom of life. It pleases me when you cling to me. And whether you realize it or not, your dependence on me, also, points others to my perfect love. Many will be drawn to the inexplicable, glorious serenity that only I can provide.
I love you,
Abba
My Abba,
Sometimes my life looks like that tornado scene in the “Wizard of Oz.” The disheveled, frantic pieces of my world swirl around me looking for a place to land. I don’t want to be caught up in that chaos.
Please pull me in close to your side and shelter my heart. I don’t want to dance feverishly, one crazy step leading me to the next until I collapse.
In you I find solace for my soul. You are my sustaining joy even on the crushing days when I feel like I might implode under the weight of duress, burdens, and adversity. Please don’t let me get caught up in the lie that says, “If you run harder, you can beat this!” I need you and the rest and peace you bring.
The more I have to do, the more I need you, my Peacemaker. Let me experience your beautiful serenity in the eye of my storm today.
I love you,
Mollie
