Eyes Wide Open
“‘My Father has given me authority over everything. No one really knows the Son except the Father, and no one really knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’ Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, ‘How privileged you are to see what you have seen. I tell you, many prophets and kings have longed to see and hear what you have seen and heard, but they could not.’” Luke 10:22-24
Privileged: having the rare opportunity to do something that brings particular pleasure
My child,
Christ said to his followers, “How privileged you are to see what you have seen.” What had they seen and heard that prophets and kings had longed to see and hear because it was so earth shattering? It was the living, breathing miracle of God – with skin on – right before their eyes. It was Christ – the exact representation of Eternal, Perfect God!
They got a front row seat to witness my unconditional love, mercy and forgiveness. My beauty, patience and grace. My goodness, justice and creativity. My kindness, tenderness and compassion. My wisdom, power, truth, joy and peace. Not a display the most accomplished or inconsequential human would want to miss, if they truly understood the reality of the offer.
But you are even more privileged to see what you see! Because the Spirit of Christ actually resides in you, yours isn’t a fleeting encounter. You continually have the opportunity to experience the joy of my revelation! Through Christ, the eyes of your heart have been opened to the glorious reality of who I am. You can enjoy the matchless pleasure of true connection with me forever. You do not wander any longer in darkness just trying to survive. You are alive in the light of my love. You are thriving because you see, hear, and know me.
I will continue to fan the flame of your heart so that you experience increasing joy in the privilege of my presence.
I love you,
Abba
My Abba,
I don’t know how to say thank you. I am overwhelmed this morning with your favor. I know I did nothing to deserve this amazing grace. I am so humbled by the reality of your revelation. Please give me a new sense of this privilege today. I want to have a heightened awareness of the spectacular reality of knowing you.
Even though life has been painful this week, you have reminded me, in the midst of the pain, that you gave me the most glorious pleasure of all ... relationship with you. I am so grateful that the pleasure of you will never be taken from me. Make me increasingly grateful that I don’t just get a glance at you from a distance. I don’t just get to see you. I get to be with you. Thank you, Most High God!
Increase my capacity for enjoying your beautiful presence today. Let me live with “eyes wide open” in the astounding reality of knowing you.
I love you,
Mollie
