in the Labyrinth
“Show me the path where I should walk, O Lord. Point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.”
Psalm 25: 4-5
Labyrinth: a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one's way
My Abba,
Please illuminate your path for me this morning. I feel a little lost in this shifting labyrinth. As some of the quarantine restrictions are lifted, I want to make wise choices. Left on my own, I cannot navigate all these twists and turns effectively. What are wise practices? I don’t want to live in fear, but I want to choose responsible strategies that seem prudent for others and myself.
You are the only one who knows the whole truth about our current crisis. Even the experts seem to have opinions that are prone to morph as quickly as the shapes of clouds on a windy day. It is difficult to sort fact from fiction as the frenzied wild cards of prediction fly across the table.
I need you to guide my mind, body and spirit. I am no match for what lurks in these unknown passages. I need you to tell me the truth you want me to know about you, me, and this confusing maze. Sometimes I feel I am being overly cautious. Sometimes I think I am not being careful enough.
Please give me clarity by the power of your Spirit. Nourish my hope in you all day long. Please grow my confident expectation in you and give me everything I need to stay on the right road with you.
I love you,
Mollie
My child,
I am the God who saves you. It may not be the rescue you have in mind, but my plans for you are flawless. I will lead you by my truth.
I have liberated you from a hopeless life without me. Because of our forever connection, I am continually protecting you from your shortsighted impulses and misplaced plans.
Don’t settle for the sandcastle schemes you can create on your own. I have the benefit of a perfect, eternal perspective. I can see forever. It is all “now” to me. I AM here and up ahead. I am here with you now, preparing you for then. And I am there in the "then," preparing it for you.
I know the signposts may seem obscured in these tangled times, but I am with you. And I am not a flashlight God you put batteries in and hold in your hand. I am infinitely more radiant than the sun and all the stars in the universe combined. Put your hope in me. Let me light your way.
I love you,
Abba
