unveiled
”But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18
Contemplate: look at thoughtfully for a long time; think profoundly about and at length; look at with continued attention, meditate, Latin: templum, “open space for observation.”
My Abba,
Thank you for removing the veil over my heart and coming to live in me. Your glorious presence broke through the demanding, dense clouds that threatened to consume my horizon. Thank you for the peerless opportunity of becoming more like you. Me (fragile, failing child of dust) becoming a bit more like you (perfect, beautiful and eternal God).
I find these meanings of “contemplate” encouraging. Thank you for transforming me as I look thoughtfully at you for a long time, think profoundly about you, meditate on you, and create more “open space” to observe who you are. I know focused time with you each day in prayer, worship, and your Word changes me in a profound way.
I can experience your dazzling love as it overflows in me. Or, I can allow my sin to shroud my heart so your presence is obscured in me. When I see it that way, the choice seems inescapably clear.
Please keep pouring light in me until all is shimmering. Make me an illuminated beacon of your love, grace and freedom today.
I love you,
Mollie
My child,
You could never find life in those dreary grave clothes. When you turned to me, I infused you with my life, hope and love so you could leave the dead things behind. I am the God of your radiant transformation.
I can give you unwavering confidence in me when you find yourself in the gridlock of circumstances. I have all the power you lack. I can invigorate you, so that you are not just surviving, but thriving.
When your new life began, I gave you freedom from the tyranny of sin and death. And now you, who with an unveiled face contemplate and reflect my glory, are being transformed into my likeness with my glory ever-increasing in you.
That is my gift to you each day you walk with me. It is the supernatural fruit of the intimate connection I forged with you. Your future is bright, no matter what may come, because I, the God of Luminosity, have made my home in your heart.
I love you,
Abba
