courageous light
“And from there the brothers and sisters, when they heard about us, came … to meet us; and when Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.” Acts 28:15
Courage: the ability to do something that frightens one; strength in the face of pain or grief
Encourage: give support, confidence, or hope to (someone); help or stimulate to develop
My child,
Sometimes a savage wind threatens to extinguish your flame. I want you to allow me to give you the courage you need when those hostile gusts are beating against the door of your heart and mind. One of the ways I impart courage is through others who know me.
You remember times when the storm has been especially violent. I sent faithful ones to fortify your courage in a tangible way. Sometimes those people had previously faced the same gale. Other times, they had not.
I can use unexpected messengers to remind you of what the storm has taught you to forget. A wind-battered mind can lock down the hatches. You may need someone to help you remember who I am, what I do, and what I can supernaturally empower you to do.
Because my Spirit is present in all of those who have given themselves to me, gathering believers together accomplishes more than you can imagine. Think about the way many lights can push back the darkness when they are lit simultaneously and placed side by side.
Your resilience will grow when you allow yourself to be strengthened by my presence in others who know me. Don't miss the brilliance. Shine together as one courageous light!
I love you,
Abba
My Abba,
Thanks for this truth. My courage can always use some encouragement.
I am grateful I don't have to be brave alone gripped in the fist of the tempest. I have realized by now, I do not thrive with my one tiny flickering wick burning in isolation, especially in a squall. You made me for interdependence with others, as well, as dependence on you.
It helps me to remember that Paul wasn't a fearless spiritual monolith without need for others. Even after all he walked through while depending on you, other believers still brought Paul courage. They gave him an increased ability to do something frightening.
His brothers and sisters helped strengthen him in the face of impending pain and grief. They gave support, confidence and hope so he would be better equipped to do what you called him to. Their light kindled his courage to press on.
Thank you for all those who encourage me. Sometimes I forget how you work through other believers to give me an undaunted heart to press on. I want to be more aware of my dependence on their ability to offer me courage.
I can't walk this path well without your illumination beaming from each of their unique vessels. Please also, by the power of your Spirit, show me how to help build strength and ability in others to walk the path you have for them.
Make your courage in us contagious and dazzling!
I love you,
Mollie
