Quiet Cove

“He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23:2-3

Refresh: give new strength or energy to, reinvigorate, stimulate, maintain freshness

My child,

Come rest with me in the quiet cove of my love this morning. I can renew your energy as you take refuge in me. I will soothe, strengthen, and refresh your soul.

The turmoil of the storm will still drag on. These whirlwinds will continue to roar and rage. Until you see me face to face, the world around you can be a turbulent place.

But you don’t have to live like a piece of bobbing wreckage on the pounding waves of adversity. Don’t let your circumstances toss you around and steal your joy. As you find rest in me, you will not be at the mercy of every hostile wave that comes your way.

No child of mine has to live as a casualty of his or her circumstances. I can speak life into those painful places. I am perpetual peace and comfort, whether life’s waters are violent or smooth.

Let me hold you in the enduring haven of my love as the winds wail. I am always here for you. Lay your weary head in my perfectly capable arms. You are meant for my solace. I will satisfy your soul and quiet your heart.

I love you,

Abba

My Abba,

Thank you for all these images of water. They mean so much to me and remind me of my summers on the lake as a child. That quiet cove on which our little house sat was a refuge.

The water outside the cove could be crazy with white caps from the wind and legions of overbearing speedboats. But our cove remained a tranquil respite.

Being with you right now is like floating peacefully on my back under a warm June sun in that still cove. All my fatigue and pain dwindles in the warmth of your presence.

Just as the serene lake water used to embrace me, I sense your loving, gentle presence holding me up. I don’t feel anxious about the brooding weather when I rest in your arms basking in the light of your love.

Thank you for the truth that, although, this world will continue to toss and turn, I can still enjoy your supernatural peace that confounds all understanding.

I choose to rest with you in your solitude today. Let me sing in the eternal harbor of your glorious grace.

I love you,

Mollie
